Best playing XI of cricketers who recently moved to the USA

Unmukt Chand

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially made its intentions clear to make cricket a part of the Olympics in the year 2028. Los Angeles will host the Olympics in that year. It seems like the USA wants to continue its dominance in Olympics and extend it to the sport of cricket as well.

In the last few years, quite a few cricketers of foreign countries have decided to move to the United States of America. In fact, English fast bowler Liam Plunkett, who won the 2019 Cricket World Cup with the England cricket team, was also in the headlines claiming that he could move to the United States of America soon.

While Plunkett is yet to move to the USA officially, in this article today, we will form a playing XI of cricketers who have recently moved to the United States.

Openers of USA team - Sunny Sohal and Unmukt Chand

Not many Indian cricket fans would know that former RCB batsman Sunny Sohal has now moved to the United States. In fact, the right-handed batsman has also played three T20I matches for America. So, he will open the innings of this team.

Opening the innings with Sohal will be the captain of the India U-19s that won the ICC U-19 World Cup in the year 2012, Unmukt Chand. Like Sunny Sohal, Chand played for multiple franchises in the IPL. However, he could not make his debut at the senior level.

Middle-order - Sami Aslam and Smit Patel (wk)

Former Pakistan batsman Sami Aslam will bat at number three for this team. Aslam moved to the United States after he did not receive proper opportunities in Pakistan. Aslam has the experience of playing 13 Test matches and four ODIs.

Another member of India's 2012 U-19 World Cup-winning team to feature on this list is Smit Patel. The wicket-keeper batsman never got to play in the Indian Premier League. He has now moved to the USA and will even feature in the Caribbean Premier League.

All-rounders - Shehan Jayasuriya, Corey Anderson, Ian Holland and Dane Piedt

Batting all-rounder from Sri Lanka, Shehan Jayasuriya will bat at number five position for this team. Jayasuriya played 12 ODIs and 18 T20Is for the Sri Lankan cricket team. He also has 11 first-class centuries to his name.

Corey Anderson from New Zealand and Dane Piedt from South Africa will be the two all-rounders of this team. Anderson once held the record for the fastest ODI hundred. He even played for New Zealand in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Meanwhile, Piedt is a spin bowler from South Africa, who played nine Test matches for the Proteas and scalped 26 wickets.

The fourth all-rounder of this team will be Ian Holland. Once upon a time, Holland played domestic cricket in Australia for Victoria. However, now he plays for the USA and has represented them in eight ODI matches.

Bowlers of the USA team - Cameron Stevenson, Juan Theron and Siddharth Trivedi

Cameron Stevenson from Australia will lead the pace attack of this team. Stevenson is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who played for Tasmania and Melbourne Renegades in Australia. So far, he has represented the United States of America in seven ODI matches and taken 12 wickets.

Former South African pacer Juan Theron is now a member of the United States of America team. There was a time when Theron was one of the top T20 fast bowlers in the world. He will partner with former Rajasthan Royals pacer Siddharth Trivedi in the pace attack of this XI.
