We have seen many instances where cricket has turned out to be the life-changing one for many players. There are few instances where the cricketers went from rags to riches after their career took the flight in cricket. Whereas on the other hand, sadly, there are few players too whose life turned after cricket. They went down from riches to rags following the downturn.

Naresh Tumda, a member of India's Blind Cricket Team has found himself sadly in the second category. He was part of the Blind World Cup Winning squad that lifted the trophy in 2018. The lockdown faced by the entire world due to Covid 19 made the situation even worse for him.

The player was forced to sell vegetables and do the labor work in Gujarat's Navsari area. Naresh stated that "I earn Rs 250 a day by doing labour work. I have requested chief minister thrice for a job but didn't get a reply. I urge the government to give me a job so that i can take care of my family."

He further added that when they arrived in India after winning the world, he met various higher authority people and even President Ram Nath Kovind. He thought that he would be able to get the job quickly post the tournament. However, that didn't happen as he had expected.

India's Blind Cricket Team became world champions in 2018

India and Pakistan were the two sides that clashed in the finals during the 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup. The Indian side chased down the target of 309 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 38.2 overs itself. The Indian side emerged out victorious with only a few balls left. Following no options left, the cricketer has now even asked the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide him with the job for his livelihood.
