Dinesh Karthik selects his all-time IPL XI of players he has played with; no place for Raina and AB de Villiers!

Kolkata Knight Riders’ captain Dinesh Karthik appeared on Cricbuzz’s YouTube channel recently, where he selected his all-time IPL XI. The wicket-keeper batsman was told to select the best XI of players that he has played within the IPL.

As the fans would know, Dinesh Karthik has been a part of various franchises in the IPL. He started his journey with Delhi Daredevils and later on played for Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Gujarat Lions. He is a part of the Kolkata-based franchise now.

The wicket-keeper batsman picked two top opening batsmen - Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag the openers of his team. Next, his Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli and Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma found a place in the all-time XI. Surprisingly, Karthik did not select his Gujarat Lions skipper Suresh Raina.

He selected himself as the number five batsman, while Kolkata Knight Riders’ all-rounder Andre Russell took the number six position. Another all-rounder from his current team present in the XI was Sunil Narine, who got the number seven position.

Karthik picked a solid fast bowling attack featuring two Australian greats Glenn McGrath and Mitchell Starc. The right arm-left arm pace bowling combination would definitely destroy the world’s best batting lineup also. Add Jasprit Bumrah to that pace attack and you have one of the world’s best possible fast bowling trios of the modern era.

The only Indian spin bowler present in the team was Royal Challengers Bangalore’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. Some notable exclusions from the team were AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard, and The God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.

Here is a look at the all-time IPL XI selected by Dinesh Karthik:

Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Glenn McGrath, Jasprit Bumrah, Mitchell Starc, Yuzvendra Chahal.
