Indian cricket team has crashed out of the T20 World Cup 2021 with all the hopes of making it to the semi-finals is over after New Zealand defeated Afghanistan earlier today.

India's all the hopes of making it to semi-finals were very much dependent on the New Zealand vs Afghanistan match, with India needing Afghanistan to beat New Zealand and then India beat Namibia on the 8th of November.

Afghanistan and New Zealand faced off in the first match of the day on the 7th of November, in a double header day.

The coin fell in favour of Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi and the Afghan skipper opted to bat first.

Opening the inning for Afghanistan, Mohammad Shahzad and Hazratullah Zazai added only 8 runs before the former got out. Zazai soon after followed him and then Rahmanullah Gurbaz also headed back to the pavilion. Afghanistan was down to 3 wickets for 19 runs, before Gulbadin Naib and Najibullah Zadran stiched together a partnership before the former departed.

Najibullah Zadran topped the chart with 74 runs of 48 balls that included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Trent Boult picked up 3 wickets while Tim Southee got 2 wickets. 1 wicket each for Milne, Neesham and Ish Sodhi.

New Zealand got off a flying start with Martin Guptill scoring 28 runs of 23 balls. But it was Devon Conway and Kane Williamson who guided the ship home for the Kiwis with Conway scoring 36 runs of 32 balls and Kane Williamson scored 40 runs of 42 balls.

India out of T20 World Cup 2021

As a result of this result, India, who were very much dependent on this match, is now out of the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-finals race. Along with that, Afghanistan, who also had a hope (though very small) of making it to the semi-finals, are also out of the T20 World Cup 2021.

India vs Namibia, T20 World Cup 2021 Semi-Finals

The semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021 will begin from 10th November and the 2nd semi-final will be played the day after. The grand final will take place on the 14th of November in Dubai's Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
