The third and final ODI of the three-match ODI series between England and Australia took place on September 16 at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. While the game witnessed a flurry of runs, the game will be remembered for a different reason as well.

While batting first, the hosts put up a huge total of 302 which came at the back of a brilliant century by the opening batsman Jonny Bairstow. Meanwhile, while chasing 303, the tourists were struggling at 5 for 73. But it was their middle-order batsmen - Glenn Maxwell and wicketkeeper-batsman Alex Carey who steadied the ship and registered a nail-biting victory as well. They added a record partnership of 212 runs and helped Australia win the game by 3 wickets and win the series by 2-1.

However, Australia speedster Mitchell Starc took the limelight away with his notable gesture. He registered a bowling spell of 3/74 but also smashed 11 runs off 3 balls. During his bowling in the 49th over when England was playing at 287-7, he witnessed that the England spinner Adil Rashid was out of the crease. While he has the option of dismissing the batsman, he decided to stop and give him a warning to Rashid to move back to the crease.

While his gesture was praised by everyone on social media to maintain the spirit of the game, a Twitter user trolled veteran India spinner R Ashwin who became famous for his mankading last year during the IPL. Last year while leading Kings XI Punjab, he had dismissed the Rajasthan Royals batsman Jos Buttler by running him out from the non-striker’s end. And, his gesture wasn't welcomed by most of the cricket fans.

The user tweeted, “Please learn something @ashwinravi99. This is how you play the game. #ENGvAUS”

However, R Ashwin took it sportingly and decided to respond. He also took to his official Twitter handle gave a fitting reply to the user. He responded, “I believe in fighting the good fight but wait till the day after and I will get back to you on this. I would like to give a day to myself”
