It was KL Rahul's 38th Test match for team India having made his debut way back in 2014 against Australia. The last Test match that KL Rahul played before this match was in 2019 against West Indies.

Talking about the match, Joe Root won the toss and opted to field first. KL Rahul started slow. However, the run flow wasn't slow as Rohit Sharma was batting with more aggressive intent, but he missed out on his hundred by 17 runs. After that, KL Rahul took control of the Indian inning and his 129 runs proved crucial in putting 364 runs on the board.

England managed to get a 27 runs lead after their 1st inning thanks to Joe Root's brilliant 180 runs. India's 2nd inning wasn't good as everyone struggled. However, Shami's 56 runs and Bumrah's 34 helped India set a 272 runs target for England. However, India's bowling performance was too good as they completely went through the England batting lineup in just two sessions as England was all-out for 120 runs.

India and England will take the field again for the 3rd Test match from 25th August.
