Sami Aslam quits Pakistan cricket; aiming to make it big in USA Cricket

The trend of cricketers leaving their native nation to pursue a career somewhere else has continued as after Corey Anderson and Morne Morkel, Pakistan’s opener Sami Aslam has changed his country.

Sami played for the Pakistan cricket team in 13 Test matches and 4 ODIs. The left-handed batsman from Lahore reportedly had a disagreement with his domestic cricket club Southern Punjab. Soon, he switched to Balochistan for the current domestic season.

Sami Aslam scored 758 Test runs and 78 ODI runs for his country. He is currently 24 years old and has many years of cricket left in him. The reason why he left Pakistan was that the selectors did not give him another opportunity to prove himself despite his brilliant performances in the domestic circuit.

Aslam has aggregated 4,594 runs in 128 first-class innings, with his batting average being 37.96. In List A matches, Sami has scored 3,728 runs at an average of 49.05. In the 50-over format, he has registered 11 centuries and 23 fifties, while in the first-class games, Sami has 14 hundreds and 17 half-centuries.

Although he has decent numbers in the two formats, he has not go an opportunity in the international arena since 2017. The southpaw played his last Test match versus Sri Lanka, while Pakistan’s England tour of 2016 proved to be his last one in the colored jerseys.

Corey Anderson has joined the United States of America (USA Cricket) after retiring from New Zealand cricket. In a similar way, Sami Aslam has quit Pakistan cricket to represent the USA Cricket team in the future. Morne Morkel had left South Africa two years ago and recently he gained permanent residency in Australia.

Besides, former Hong Kong captain Anshuman Rath is trying to become an Indian cricketer. Thus, many cricket players have changed their countries of late.
