Sanjay Manjrekar respond to a fan who said he is afraid of MS Dhoni

Famous commentator Sanjay Manjrekar is known for his weird comments. Recently, a Twitter user criticized him for not commenting on Dhoni’s captaincy during the match against Delhi Capitals in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League, citing that he is being scared of criticizing MS Dhoni.

Along with Sanjay, the user criticized his fellow commentators as well. The comments came after Manjrekar took to Twitter and shared his views on CSK’s decision to hand over the ball to Ravindra Jadeja in the final over despite having two left-handers – Shikhar Dhawan and Axar Patel on the crease.

In the absence of Bravo, Karn Sharma could be a better option instead of Jadeja at this stage and he also shared that a wrist spinner with the variation of googly could have been more effective as well.

Sanjay Manjrekar’s tweeted, “With two left-handed batsmen at the crease, for me, it was a simple choice. Karn Sharma over Jadeja. A wrist spinner can get the ball (googly)to go away from the left-handed batsman & wrist-spinner gets extra bounce too. A costly mistake from CSK.”

Soon after his tweet, a Twitter user slammed him and his fellow commentators for not criticizing Dhoni as the decision was taken by the CSK captain and Manjrekar didn’t mention Dhoni’s name in his tweet.

The user tweeted, “Look at his tweet on Shreyas Iyer just a while ago: sharply critical and biting tone. And look at this tweet: Dhoni’s mistake becomes CSK’s mistake. This is a regular trend. How scared are commentators to criticize Dhoni!! Not just Sanjay Manjrekar, each one of them.”

Manjrekar, however, didn’t take much time to respond and he clarified his point of view regarding this matter as well. He tweeted: “Sir when I say, a costly mistake by CSK, what’s the inference? Is it not Dhoni? And with Iyer, it was his batting I was specifically talking about, can’t say DC there can I? Am I scared to ccriticizeDhoni? May be our friends here on Twitter could answer that.”

However, the user seemed to have lost interest and didn’t want to stretch it again. That’s why he ended the matter then and there with a positive note. He further tweeted, ”If you think you are fair and balanced with Dhoni and other players, then it is fine by me. After all, one should be sure that one's own conscience is clean. Have a great day :-)”

As far as the game is concerned, MS Dhoni decided to bat first after winning the toss. With some brilliant shows from Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, and Jadeja, CSK managed to put up 179 on the board. However, despite having started well while defending, Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan made things worse for them.

He smashed an unbeaten century and a stunning cameo from Axar Patel with the bat helped them win the game with ease
