Shaun Pollock picks 3 players CSK should retain for IPL 2022, excludes MS Dhoni
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 has finally finished as MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings defeated Eoin Morgan's Kolkata Knight Riders by 27 runs in the final to clinch their 4th IPL trophy.
Now that the IPL 2021 is finally done and dusted, teams will get back on drawing board as they look to build from scratch for next season as the IPL 2022 Mega Auction fast approaching.
Along with the team management, even the fans of respective teams and cricket experts are busy predicting the players that their team must retain ahead of the IPL Mega Auction.
Just recently, the former South African international cricketer and captain Shaun Pollock predicted, or rather I say, picked 3 players that the defending champions Chennai Super Kings should retain before IPL 2022 Mega Auction.
Ruturaj Gaikwad
The first name, probably not only on his list but everyone's list will CSK's classy opener Ruturaj Gaikwad. The Pune born cricketer, who plays domestic cricket for Maharashtra, won the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in this year's IPL edition. Gaikwad topped the chart with 635 runs from 16 matches.
Ravindra Jadeja
The next player he believes should be retained is CSK's all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Ravindra Jadeja has been playing for the Chennai Super Kings team from IPL 2012 seasons onwards. Jadeja also played 16 matches this season, in which he contributed with both bat and bowl as scored 227 runs and picked up 13 wickets. He played an instrumental role in the final of IPL 2021 as he picked 2 wickets shown his brilliance in field as well.
Faf du Plessis
He added his fellow countrymen Faf du Plessis as the third player that CSK should retain for the next season. Faf and Ruturaj Gaikwad up top played crucial part in CSK's glory this season. Du Plessis just fell short by 3 runs to win the Orange Cap as he finished the season with 633 runs with a brilliant, match winning 86 runs in the final.
Shaun Pollock excludes MS Dhoni
However, the most surprising one is that Pollock didn't picked CSK's captain MS Dhoni as a retained player. He stated that he personally thinks Dhoni won't be retained, but instead will stay with the team in a managerial role.
