Shikhar Dhawan gives an update on Shreyas Iyer's injury

The Delhi Capitals have performed extremely well in IPL 2020 so far. The Delhi-based franchise have attained the number one position on the points table with six victories in their first eight games of the season.

All players of the franchise have played their roles to perfection. Their combination of the Indian and overseas stars seems to be perfect, but there are many injury concerns in their camp at the moment.

DC’s two veteran Indian players Amit Mishra and Ishant Sharma are already ruled out of IPL 2020. Their star wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant is also out with an injury. To make matters worse for the Delhi Capitals, their captain Shreyas Iyer suffered a shoulder injury during the match against the Rajasthan Royals.

It is noteworthy that even Ravichandran Ashwin had a similar injury issue earlier in the season. Since Iyer was the captain of the team, after his injury, Shikhar Dhawan led the side in his absence. In the post-match presentation, here’s what Dhawan said about Iyer’s injury:

“He (Iyer) is in pain but good thing is he is able to move his shoulder. I haven’t spoken to him at length. We’ll get the proper report tomorrow,” Dhawan said after the match.

Thus, Shikhar Dhawan clarified that Shreyas Iyer was able to move his shoulder now. The fans await an official update from the Delhi Capitals to know the extent of the injury. Dhawan led the team brilliantly against RR. He rotated the bowlers well and ensured that the Delhi Capitals did not lose the match.

Even if Shreyas Iyer needs to take a rest, he can skip a game or two. The Capitals have almost secured their playoff spot. Iyer needs to be fit for the business end of the competition. It will be interesting to see if how the DC team management deals with this injury concern.
