West Indies announces all-rounders filled 16-member squad for T20I series against India

West Indies cricket team is set to for a tour to India in early February to 3 matches limited overs series, and today, the West Indies selection committee has today named the 16 member squad for the T20I series.

The 16 member squad announced today sees Kieron Pollard continue as the captain of the team, while left-hand batsman Nicholas Pooran has been named his deputy for the series.

As you may know, West Indies is currently playing a 5 match T20I series against England and the squad retains most of the players from that series.

The Caribbean squad boasts of a number of All-Rounders in the squad, the likes of rising star Odean Smith, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder etc.

Kieron Pollard (Captain), Nicholas Pooran (Vice-captain), Darren Bravo, Brandon King, Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, Fabien Allen, Odean Smith, Roston Chase, Dominic Drakes, Jason Holder, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Rovman Powell, Hayden Walsh, Sheldon Cottrell.

West Indies is currently playing an ongoing T20I series against England where the Men in Maroon currently has the advantage over the English side. After three matches, West Indies leads the 5 match series 2-1.

Both Nicholas Pooran and Rovman Powell have shown great display of hard-hitting batting where Pooran has scored 121 runs from 3 matches, while Rovman Powell scored a century in his first match of the series in the 3rd match.

Windies are looking to build a quality squad going into the T20 World Cup 2022 to be played in Australia later this year.

The Caribbean team, who is the most successful team in the T20 World Cup history having won it twice, didn't had a good campaign last time around when they finished 5th in their respective Super 12 group.

Earlier, the Indian senior selection committee had also announced the Indian squad for the ODI and T20I series. Rohit Sharma will lead the team, while KL Rahul will be his deputy. Young Ravi Bishnoi has been given his debut.

The series will commence on the 6th of February with the 1st ODI in Ahmedabad while the following matches will be played on the 9th and 11th February at the same venue.

The T20I series will commence from the 16th February, and the other 2 matches will be played on the 18th and 20th February, at the same venue in Kolkata.
