Indian Cricket Legend Sunil Gavaskar recently expressed his views on BCCI’s final decision to hold Kohli’s 100th test behind closed doors. He said the hundredth test is very very special.

Virat Kohli is all set to play his hundredth Test Match for India as they take on Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series. The first match will be played in Mohali from the 5th of March. Chinnaswamy will host the boys in Blue for the second test match starting from the 12th.

However, for Kohli, the milestone would be half-felt as the BCCI has decided to keep the test match at Mohali behind closed doors to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the city. Recently, there has been a spike in positive cases in Mohali.

PCA Treasurer says Fans won’t be allowed in the stadium for Mohali test

Mr. RP Singla, the treasurer of Punjab Cricket Association, confirmed that the first test at Mohali would be played behind closed doors. He affirmed that the decision was taken by the BCCI.

The Little Master recently spoke to Sports Today. He said that the 100th test is always special. Being a player, you want to cherish being in front of the crowd. It is disappointing that the test will be played behind closed doors, but the decision is taken in greater interest.

“There has been an increase in the number of cases in Mohali, where the Test Match will be held”, added Gavaskar.

Moreover, this decision has caused havoc among the fans. They have waited long enough to live this moment. Many fans have questioned this decision. They argued that the recently-concluded T20I series was held with spectators in Dharamsala.

To add, Ahmedabad did not have fans in the stadium for the ODI Series against the West Indies. Whereas, Kolkata hosted the final match with fans in limited numbers.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium will host the second test match against SL with 50% capacity.
