4 players who played only one match for SRH in IPL

The Sunrisers Hyderabad replaced the Deccan Chargers in the IPL from the 2013 season onwards. The Chargers had performed well during the first five seasons as they won the title in 2009 and finished at fourth place in 2010. However, due to some off-field issues, the franchise had to leave the tournament.

Sun TV bought the rights for the new team and titled it as Sunrisers Hyderabad. Soon, they became famous as the Orange Army, and David Warner has been an integral part of the team since 2014. Many stalwarts like Kumar Sangakkara, Daren Sammy, Shikhar Dhawan, Quinton de Kock, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Aaron Finch, Jonny Bairstow, Amit Mishra, and others have played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last eight seasons.

SRH captured their first IPL trophy in 2016, while they settled at the third position in IPL 2020. The fans have noted that not every player gets more opportunities to prove his talent in the IPL. Some receive many, while some gain only one chance. This listicle features those four players who played only one game for the Hyderabad-based franchise.

1.Thalaivan Sargunam

35-year-old batsman X Thalaivan Sargunam has played only one IPL match in his career. The Sunrisers Hyderabad handed him his debut IPL cap in the year 2013. Sargunam played his first and last IPL inning against the Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk.

The uncapped batsman came out to bat at number six. Captain Cameron White sent him to bat ahead of Daren Sammy. Sargunam could not get going as he scored only 10 runs off 17 deliveries. West Indian star DJ Bravo dismissed him caught and bowled. CSK won that match by five wickets.

2.Ankit Sharma

Uncapped all-rounder Ankit Sharma has been a part of four IPL franchises in his career. He started his journey with the Deccan Chargers and later played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Rajasthan Royals, and the Rising Pune Supergiant.

Talking about the experience at SRH, Sharma got a chance to play only a solitary game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. The southpaw bowled two overs, giving away 17 runs to RCB. He did not get a chance to bat. The match ended in a Super Over with SRH prevailing ultimately.

3.Mitchell Marsh

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh earned an IPL contract from the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2020. The Aussie player played his first match for SRH against the Royal Challengers Bangalore this year. Unfortunately, he picked up an injury during the game and was ruled out of the season.

It is pertinent to note that Marsh had represented three different IPL franchises before becoming a part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played for the Deccan Chargers, the Pune Warriors, and the Rising Pune Supergiant.

4.Srikkanth Anirudha

Srikkanth Anirudha had won the Man of the Match award for his 64-run knock against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the first match of IPL 2011. He played some good innings for the Chennai Super Kings. However, CSK released the right-handed batsman after the 2012 season.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him next and offered him an opportunity to show his talent. Batting in the middle order, Aniruddha could score only three off five balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders. That match proved to be his last outing in the IPL.
