3 Indian cricketers who made their debut in Ireland

It is not a surprise that established cricketing nations such as India use the assignments against associate nations such as Ireland to hand debuts to youngsters. Such a trend has been there for a long time and it is still happening. A few Indian cricketers made their international debut against Ireland in Ireland. This is actually a rare occurrence since India does not play Ireland often. Till now, India has met Ireland in 1 ODI and 4 T20Is only. On that note, here, we take a look at three Indian cricketers who made their debut in Ireland.

1) Rohit Sharma

It was in 2007 in the lone ODI against Ireland that Rohit Sharma made his international debut. He did not get a chance to bat in that game but he did not waste time in showing his potential as he was brilliant a few months later at the 2007 T20 World Cup. Rohit is currently the skipper of the Indian Team.

2) Siddarth Kaul

Siddarth Kaul is one of the Indian cricketers who made their debut in Ireland. After doing well with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL, the Punjab pacer got a chance with Team India. India was touring England and as part of this tour, two T20Is against Ireland were also scheduled. Kaul made his debut in this series. He was not impressive in the next chances he got and eventually, had to be dropped from the squad. Kaul is still working hard in domestic cricket but the demand for his type of pacers has gone down.

3) Umran Malik

Umran Malik is the latest Indian to join this list. It was last year that the J&K pacer made his international debut. His first game was not memorable but he has already made up for it with some consistent performances. India will hope that he will develop to become a top pacer.
