3 Indian cricketers who might be dropped after Asia Cup failure

India was expected to win Asia Cup 2022. However, the team did not do well in the tournament. They lost their Super Four fixtures to Pakistan and Sri Lanka and hence, could not reach the finals. While performances were the main reason for the debacle, team selection and lack of balance in the XI was also a reason. Hence, we can expect the management to make a few changes to the squad for the next series. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three Indian cricketers who might be dropped after the Asia Cup failure.

1) Avesh Khan

Avesh Khan has not been doing well for a while now. Yes, he will be useful in Australia with his hit-the-deck capability but without confidence and momentum, he could struggle under pressure. With the likes of Harshal Patel returning and Deepak Chahar available, Avesh might not find a place in the squad. If he does get selected and even gets a chance, then it surely means that he will be on the flight to Australia.

2) R Ashwin

R Ashwin is one of the Indian cricketers who might be dropped after the Asia Cup failure. Everyone was doubtful why India picked only three genuine seamers for Asia Cup. R Ashwin was selected as the extra spinner. When Avesh Khan was unavailable, India found it hard in using Hardik Pandya as the third seamer. All these factors could make India pick an extra spinner which would leave Ashwin out of the squad. Deepak Hooda, with his off-spin, would likely be used if India needs a right-arm off-spin option.

3) Rishabh Pant

Yes, it would be a grave mistake to drop Pant at this point in time but it won't be a surprise if that happens. The player has been struggling in T20Is and needs to look at his game. If he is in the squad and not performing, it would disturb the balance of the squad. India might also want to try Ishan Kishan as the left-hand option. Therefore, Pant is also a part of this list.
