3 players who could replace the injured Jos Buttler as the opener for Rajasthan Royals

Jos Buttler suffered a finger injury while fielding in the previous game. As per reports, he could be out of action for a week. This means that RR will have a tough job of replacing the cricketer at the top of the order. In this article, we take a look at three players who could replace the injured Jos Buttler as an opener for Rajasthan Royals.

1) Donavon Ferreira

The South African cricketer started SA20 on a good note but could not sustain his form. Nevertheless, considering he is a good big-hitter, he would be an apt choice to replace Buttler. Ferreira, if required, can also keep wickets and could also offer a few overs of off-spin.

2) Joe Root

Joe Root is one of the players who could replace the injured Jos Buttler as an opener for Rajasthan Royals. The English legend could finally make his debut in the IPL. He would be the first option for RR to replace Buttler. Root offers a lot of calmness and would complement Yashasvi Jaiswal. It would also be a good option for RR as they could look to build their batting around him. At one end, he can hold his wicket while the others could express themselves at the other end.

3) Devdutt Padikkal

Padikkal is in poor form and the middle-order role is not suiting him. Dhruv Jurel looked brilliant and might replace Padikkal. However, RR can try to bring the youngster back to form by giving him the natural position as the opener. This would be mean there would be two left-handers as the openers. RR could avoid this and therefore, Padikkal's chances look bleak right now.
