3 players who might miss out on the 2022 T20 World Cup to accommodate Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik is in the form of his life at the moment. With the touch that he is in, it is almost inevitable that he makes it to the 2022 T20 World Cup squad. However, it needs to be noted that before IPL 2022, DK was nowhere in the scheme of things. Hence, the management will have to leave out someone who was in the plans originally. In this article, we take a look at three players who might miss out on the 2022 T20 World Cup to accommodate Dinesh Karthik.

1) Shreyas Iyer

Shreyas Iyer is the player who is most likely to be dropped from the squad due to DK's arrival. With Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli cementing the first three spots and Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and DK occupying the others, Iyer might not get selected. Moreover, Iyer has a weakness against pace and hence, he might be sidelined for the WC which will happen in Australia.

2) Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad is one of the players who might miss out on the 2022 T20 World Cup to accommodate Dinesh Karthik. Earlier, there was an outside chance of Ruturaj making it to the WC squad. However, with DK's form, Rutu might not get the chance as the reserve opener. He will be low in the pecking order after Ishan Kishan and maybe, even after Sanju Samson, as well.

3) Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan has almost confirmed his spot as the reserve opener. However, he now does not have a guaranteed place as a reserve wicket-keeper because DK is in the squad. If Ishan does not do well in the games leading up to the event, it may not be a surprise if he loses his spot for the mega-event later this year.
