3 players who were a captain in the 2021 T20 WC but will not play 2022 T20 WC

The 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup will witness quite a few changes in most squads. A few teams have also had a change in their management, including the skipper. Some of these players are not even a part of the tournament. On that note, in this article, we take a look at three players who were a captain in the 2021 T20 WC but will not play 2022 T20 WC.

1) Kieron Pollard - West Indies

The West Indian all-rounder was the captain of his side last year. However, earlier this year, he announced his retirement from international cricket. Nicholas Pooran has replaced Pollard and will lead West Indies in the tournament. Pollard's experience will be a massive miss for the squad.

2) Eoin Morgan - England

Eoin Morgan is one of the players who were a captain in the 2021 T20 WC but will not play in the 2022 T20 WC. After a string of failures, 2019 World Cup-winning skipper Eoin Morgan decided to retire from international cricket. Since then, he has been exploring opportunities in different leagues and is also set to take up coaching soon. Jos Buttler is the cricketer who has replaced Morgan as England's skipper. It needs to be seen if Buttler can be as successful as Morgan.

3) Mahmudullah - Bangladesh

Bangladesh has had a rough ride in T20I cricket in recent months. They have dropped their experienced finisher Mahmudullah for the 2022 T20 World Cup. The cricketer was, in fact, the skipper of the side in the last edition. It has been a massive fall for the cricketer but he will hope to make a comeback. Shakib Al Hasan is now the skipper of the unit.
