4 popular Indian batters who have scored lesser sixes than Mohammed Shami in Tests till now

Six-hitting in Tests is more than just having the skills. Sometimes, players have to gauge the situation and then take the risk. Therefore, at times, lower-order batters tend to hit more sixes than genuine batters. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four popular Indian batters who have scored lesser sixes than Mohammed Shami in Tests till now.

Mohammed Shami is one of the most entertaining batters that India has seen in recent times. While he is good with the ball, and with the bat, too, Shami displays good skills at times. Moreover, his intent is always to hit the big shots and he finds success very often. Till now, the Indian pacer has 25 sixes in Tests, which is actually higher than many other accomplished batters that the nation has seen.

1) Virat Kohli - 24*

Virat Kohli is one of the popular Indian batters who have scored lesser sixes than Mohammed Shami in Tests till now. It is interesting to note that despite playing more than 100 Tests, Virat has hit just 24 sixes till now. Of course, his role in the batting line-up is different and at his peak, Virat had very little scope to take risks considering his importance to the batting line-up. Nevertheless, since Virat is still playing, he is more likely to end up with more sixes than Shami.

2) Yuvraj Singh - 22

Yuvraj Singh played 40 Tests for Team India. Considering he is a prolific six-hitter, it is surprising that he had only 22 big hits in his short Test career. Back then, had Yuvi approached a different strategy, he could have scored more sixes and more runs in this format.

3) Rahul Dravid - 21

Rahul Dravid is also one of the popular Indian batters who have scored lesser sixes than Mohammed Shami in Tests till now. Rahul Dravid played 163 Tests for Team India. However, he scored just 21 sixes. As we all know, Dravid was a gritty cricketer and he was known for his skills to tackle tough situations and make runs for the team. He took very few risks and hence, he ended up with fewer sixes.

4) Cheteshwar Pujara - 15*

Pujara is playing his 100th Test and has only scored 15 sixes. That said, this number is gradually increasing. At times, Pujara is playing with a more aggressive intent and hence, he is scoring sixes. However, it looks difficult if he can beat Shami's record for now.
