4 popular players who were Dinesh Karthik's teammates in the 2004 U19 World Cup

Dinesh Karthik recently made a comeback into the Indian squad after his stellar performance with the bat for Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was called up for the national squad for the T20I series against South Africa. Dinesh Karthik scored a blistering fifty in the 4th T20I to take India to a reasonable first innings score. India went on to win that match by 82 runs. Many former Cricketers suggest that Dinesh Karthik should be in the playing 11 for India in the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. When Dinesh Karthik was playing for India U19 team in the year 2004, there were some surprising names who were also part of the same team.

1. Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan was one of the greatest opening batsmen that India have seen. He was also called as Mr. ICC by the Indian fans as he’s the man for big moments. The elegant left hand batsman was one of the team mates of Dinesh Karthik at the U19 World Cup in the year 2004. Shikhar Dhawan will be leading the Indian team against West Indies in August 2022.

2. Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina was also one of the key members of the Indian squad in 2004 U19 World Cup. Raina played some magical innings throughout the tournament. Then Suresh Raina went on to play for the Indian team as he played some crucial innings with the bat in the Indian Premier League for CSK.

3. Robin Uthappa

Another big name in that squad is Robin Uthappa. We all know Uthappa and Dinesh Karthik were best friends from the days of KKR, but their bonding may have started from their U19 playing days. Robin Uthappa played a crucial role for CSK in IPL 2021. He was sensational with the bat in Qualifier 1 and in the finals.

4. Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu was the captain of the Indian team in the U19 World Cup in 2004. Rayudu was well known for his attacking intent as a batsman. He played some crucial knocks for CSK in IPL 2018, where they went on to win the IPL in their comeback year. IPL 2022 may be his last year in the IPL.

5. RP Singh

RP Singh is the only player in this list who has not been playing any Cricket right now. RP Singh was well known for his swing bowling with the new ball. This left arm seamer had a sharp in-swinger which has troubled many world class batsmans. He was also one of the team mates of Dinesh Karthik in the U19 World Cup in 2004.
