5 Indian Players with T20 International Centuries in the cricket history
The inaugural T201 World Cup champions and the current No. 1 ranked T201 team in the world are in their best form when it comes to the shortest format of the game. Since the inception of the format, the Men in Blue have been one of the toughest teams to play in T20 internationals. The prime reason behind it is the quality of batters India has had over the years.
The Indian batting line-up has been blessed with some explosive and elegant players. That is the reason India is the team with the most T20I centuries in the world. In T20Is, five Indian batters have scored centuries. So let's check those centurions.
5. Suryakumar Yadav (One century)
Suryakumar Yadav is one of the stylish batsmen in the current era in the shorter format. He made the latest entry into this list, after scoring an explosive 117 runs against England in the third T20I on July 10 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. After Rohit Sharma, he had the second highest T20I score for India. Although India lost the match, he played one of the best innings in this format by an Indian.
4. Deepak Hooda (One Century)
Deepak Hooda has grabbed all the opportunities with both hands. That is the reason he makes this difficult list. The all-rounder scored a century against Ireland on June 28, 2022 at Dublin. He smashed a 55-ball century and ended up with 104 runs off 57 balls, including nine boundaries and six maximums.
3. Suresh Raina (One Century)
Suresh Raina was the first ever Indian to reach the three-figure mark in the T20I for India. He is also the only Indian with a century in the T20I World Cup. His only century came against South Africa in the 2010 T20I World Cup at Gros Islet on May 02, 2010. The southpaw scored a 60-ball century and made 101 runs off 60 balls, including nine boundaries and five maximums.
2. KL Rahul (Two Centuries)
Next on the list is one of the most gifted and elegant players in all three format. KL Rahul is certainly one of the best T20 batters India has ever produced. His numbers are incredible. In 56 matches, he has scored 1831 runs at an average of 40.68 and a strike rate of 142.49. Rahul has also hit two centuries and 16 half-centuries in the shortest format. His first century (46-ball) came against the West Indies at Lauderhill in 2016. He scored 100 runs off 49 balls, including five fours and nine maximums. His second ton came against England at Manchester in 2018, where he made 101* off 54 balls, including 10 fours and five sixes.
1. Rohit Sharma (Four Centuries)
There is no one in the world that has more centuries than the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma. He is also the highest run-getter in T20. Rohit has 3379 runs in 128 games with four centuries and 26 half-centuries. He also holds the record for the joint fastest century of 35 balls. His four centuries came against South Africa in 2015. Sri Lanka in 2017, England in 2018, and the West Indies in 2018. He scored 106, 118, 100* and 111* respectively.
