5 changes Chennai Super Kings need to make to return to winning ways

Chennai Super Kings are former 3-time IPL Champions. The team has made it to the playoffs in every season that it has played. However, in the 2020 season, the Chennai-based franchise has struggled to make an impact. The MS Dhoni-led outfit has played three matches and lost two of them.

The fact which hurts all fans the most is that the team lost by big margins. Also, as per many fans, MS Dhoni is batting low down the order and he should bat up. There are a few tactical changes that CSK need to make to come back on the winning track. Ambati Rayudu is set to play the next match as CEO Kasi Vishwanath stated that he will be 100% fine. So, he will likely take Ruturaj Gaikwad's place. Although the youngster has not got many chances, in a tournament in IPL, a team cannot afford to give too many opportunities, especially at the beginning stage.

In this article, we will look at the five CSK could make to start winning again in IPL 2020.

1.Narayan Jagadeesan in for Murali Vijay

Not many fans know much about Narayan Jagadeesan. The wicket-keeper batsman has been a part of the CSK squad for some time now.He has not got a chance in the playing XI because MS Dhoni and Sam Billings were available as wicket-keeping options. However, in this season, Chennai needs a new opener. Murali Vijay has failed to make an impact in the first three games. So, the young Jagadeesan could take his place.

2.MS Dhoni bats at number four

Thala MS Dhoni has stated that the long quarantine period had an effect on him. However, he would have spent a good number of days are coming out of quarantine when CSK battles SRH.

Thus, Dhoni should be in the right mindset. He could promote himself to number four and then the entire batting order will become a lot more strong.

3.DJ Bravo in for Josh Hazlewood

It was surprising to see Dwayne Bravo out of CSK's playing XI during the first three matches. However, it was learned that he was nursing an injury.

Bravo should recover till 2nd October. If he is available to play, he should take Josh Hazlewood's place because Sam Curran has done a fantastic job as an all-rounder.

4.Shardul Thakur in for Kedar Jadhav

Chennai Super Kings surprisingly did not use Shardul Thakur as their second Indian pace bowling option in the first few matches of IPL. He can do a decent job with the ball.

Kedar Jadhav has struggled with the bat. MS Dhoni has also not used him as a bowler. So, Thakur can take Hazlewood's place in the pace bowling attack. Even KM Asif can be a good pick.

5.Karn Sharma in for Piyush Chawla

Every Chennai Super Kings fan wants to see Imran Tahir in the playing XI. However, there can be only four overseas players and Chennai needs batsmen.

Hence, Piyush Chawla could go back to the bench and Karn Sharma can take his place. Sharma can do well under Dhoni's captaincy. He had been very successful for SRH, and the pitches in Dubai and Abu Dhabi could help him do well.
