5 players who might be used often as 'Impact Player' in IPL
IPL will have a new rule from the next season. As per this rule, teams can now exercise the option of utilizing a substitute before the 14th over. This will surely change the dynamics of the competition. In this article, we take a look at five players who might be used often as 'Impact Player' in IPL.
It is clear that each team will have its own strategy while making use of the new advantage. A few phase specialists will be in demand for this purpose. We look at some players who could mainly be used as an 'Impact Player' in the competition.
1) Mukesh Choudhary
Mukesh Choudhary is one of the players who might be used often as an 'Impact Player' in IPL. The CSK pace did well in the beginning of an innings in IPL 2022 but was a failure in the death overs. With Deepak Chahar also having a similar role, CSK could have a few issues with their pace attack next season. However, with the new rule, they can now use Mukesh at the start and keep Deepak in the XI because he adds better value with the bat and in the death overs than Mukesh.
2) Sarfaraz Khan
The Mumbai batter is in good form at the moment. However, he is not getting frequent opportunities in the IPL. Nevertheless, he now has a great chance to leave an impact in IPL. He is a good player of spin and will be of use in the middle order. Even if Delhi Capitals has a collapse, Sarfaraz can come in as the additional batter. Hence, the player would get some chances next season.
3) Shivam Dube
Shivam Dube is also one of the players who might be used often as an 'Impact Player' in IPL. Like Sarfaraz, Shivam is also a good player of spin mainly because of his brute power. Although CSK might have him in the XI, since Shivam does not add great value with the ball, the franchise might use him as a specialist for the middle order to take on the spinners.
4) Trent Boult
In recent years, Trent Boult has been brilliant in the powerplay but has not done well at the death. With Rajasthan Royals needing an additional batter, they can now utilize Trent Boult within the powerplay and have him replaced or have him replace someone in the XI. However, it needs to be seen if foreigners would be allowed in this rule.
5) Abhinav Manohar
Therefore, Abhinav Manohar is also one of the players who might be used often as an 'Impact Player' in IPL. Abhinav started IPL 2022 well but later lost his chance in the XI. Like Dube and Shivam, he is also good against spin and could be used by Gujarat Titans to relieve some pressure off the shoulders of Hardik Pandya.
