5 popular former RCB players who became Head Coach of other IPL franchises

 

Although the franchise has not won any trophy, RCB ranks well in popularity. One of the main reasons for RCB's failure to win trophies is the lack of good performances in crunch games and disappointing player retention. A few released players have even become the coaches of other squads in the later part of their careers. On that note, in this article, we take a look at five former RCB players who became the head coaches of other IPL franchises.

Franchises inevitably depend on popular retired cricketers to become the coaches of the squad. It helps them stay very engaged with the fans and also get access to the immense experience of these cricketers. It is a trend that is very unlikely to change soon.

1) Brendon McCullum - Kolkata Knight Riders

 Brendon McCullum is one of the former RCB players who became the Head Coach of other IPL franchises. The Kiwi opener was once a part of RCB. Later, he became the Head Coach of KKR, a franchise that hired for the initial seasons of IPL. Recently, Bazz had to quit the role after he was appointed as the Head Coach of the England Test Team. Chandrakant Pandit replaced him in the role.

2) Jacques Kallis - Kolkata Knight Riders

Kallis was part of RCB for the first three seasons. Later, the South African all-rounder made the move to KKR and played a few seasons there. He even got a chance to coach the squad. However, the journey did not happen as desired and both parties parted ways later. 

3) Rahul Dravid - Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals

Rahul Dravid is also one of the former RCB players who became the Head Coach of other IPL franchises. The 'Icon' signing for the first three seasons, Dravid was later released by the franchise. He went on to captain RR and even coach them. Dravid also had a stint in Delhi. He is currently the Head Coach of Team India.

4) Anil Kumble - Punjab Kings

Anil Kumble first joined Mumbai Indians as the Mentor after leaving RCB. He was the India Coach for a while and later, he became the Head Coach of Punjab Kings. He was recently replaced by Trevor Bayliss in the responsibility.  

5) Mark Boucher - Mumbai Indians

Mark Boucher is the latest addition to this list of former RCB players who became the Head Coach of other IPL franchises. He was the coach of South Africa but was named as the new Head Coach of Mumbai Indians. The former RCB cricketer will replace Mahela Jayawardene, who has now been promoted to a global position.
