The second edition of the Men's Hundred will start on August 3rd. At the moment, the England Team in the shorter formats is not getting great results. With the 2022 T20 World Cup scheduled this year, it will be important for the Englishmen to get good practice. However, a few players will not be a part of the event. In this article, we take a look at six popular English players who will not take part in the Men's Hundred 2022.
Usually, in a domestic T20 league, popular stars from the country are expected to participate in the event. However, that will not be the case in the Men's Hundred. Some of the premier stars will miss the tournament due to various reasons.
1) Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is one of the popular English players who will not take part in the Men's Hundred 2022. The all-rounder has been managing his workload and he has been given rest for the tournament. Hence, he will not take part in it. Recently, he announced retirement from ODIs, another effort to manage his workload.
2) Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer is recovering from an injury and will miss the upcoming season. It is hard but the pacer is targeting a comeback in the 2022 T20 World Cup. It is important for England that he is fit by then as he will add strength to the bowling unit.
3) Stuart Broad
Stuart Broad was once England's T20I captain. However, he is not involved in the format right now. Hence, Broad will not be part of the Men's Hundred. He will focus on the upcoming Test assignments.
4) James Anderson
James Anderson is also one of the popular English players who will not take part in the Men's Hundred 2022. Anderson's case is also similar to that of Broad. However, considering Anderson is dangerous with the new ball, maybe, he could have been allotted a franchise to play a few games. It would have excited the fans, as well.
5) Chris Woakes
Chris Woakes is recovering from an injury and is not expected to be part of the event. He is an important all-format cricketer for England. He gives value at the start of an innings and is also useful at No.8 with the bat. Hence, England will hope for a quick recovery of the bowling all-rounder.
6) Mark Wood
Mark Wood is a part of this list of English players who will not take part in the Men's Hundred 2022. Like the others, Wood also has fitness issues. He will be one of the key players for England at the T20 World Cup. It is not sure if he would be ready by then but the management will be hoping for it.
