AB de Villiers' bold prediction for T20 WC, picks a team that will lift the Trophy

We are just a few hours away from the start of the first semi-final between New Zealand and Pakistan on Wednesday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. It will be followed by the second semi-final between India and England on Thursday at the Adelaide Oval.

With the T20 World Cup 2022 reaching its knockout stage, the assumptions have begun for which two teams will qualify for the finals and which will be the team that will lift the trophy. Many former cricketers and cricket analysts are sharing their opinions on various platforms.

However, a number of fans want to see India and Pakistan meet in the final of the tournament at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on November 13 (Sunday). However, some believe that England and New Zealand are better teams to qualify for the final.

Amid all those predictions, former South African skipper AB de Villiers has also come up with his own prediction for the upcoming final at the MCG. In a discussion with ANI, De Villiers said that it will be India and New Zealand that play in the final.

However, he also went on to predict that Rohit Sharma and his men would defeat the Black Caps and win their second World T20 championship. Notably, India doesn't have a good record against New Zealand when it comes to ICC events.

They lost to New Zealand in the last edition in the UAE. New Zealand also beat India in the final of the 2021 World Test Championship. Apart from that, India lost the semi-final against the Black Caps in the 2019 ODI World Cup.

De Villiers, who was at the launch of the inaugural edition of the The Last Man Stands (LMS) India Super League 2023 (world's largest amateur T20 cricket league in India) said, "India and New Zealand will play the final and I think India will win."

Furthermore, De Villiers also named a few players who will be key players for India in the knockout stage. He said that Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli are in prime form, and Rohit, who is short of runs, will surely make a strong return. Virat (265) and SKY (236) are among the highest run scorers in the tournament.
