BCCI to allow 100 percent stadium capacity for the India vs South Africa T20I series: Report

 

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will now conclude in a few days time. Right after which, the Indian team will take on the South African team in a 5-match T20I series, to be played in India. 

The first match of this series will be played in Delhi on June 9, while the last match will be played in Bengaluru on June the 19th. Meanwhile, according to some reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved the entry of 100 percent spectators on the field for the upcoming series.

In the last few years all matches were being held without spectators since the COVID-19 hit worldwide in March 2020. The situation was so bad that the BCCI had to organize the IPL in the UAE during the 2020 and 2021 editions. Meanwhile, IPL 2022 is being organized in the presence of a limited amount of spectators in India itself.

According to News18 sources, “BCCI will allow full capacity spectators in stadiums for the India-South Africa T20 International series." 

Let us tell you that earlier, in the month of March, keeping in mind the Indian Premier League 2022 season, the BCCI had allowed spectators with more than 25 percent capacity in the stadiums, while the board has already approved 100 for the IPL playoffs.

On the other hand, if we talk about the series to be played against South Africa, the five match series will be played in Delhi, Cuttack, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot and Bangalore from June 9 to 19 respectively. 

Meanwhile, there is also news that several players who have excelled in this IPL season may be picked for the series and also either Shikhar Dhawan or Hardik Pandya could be leading the team with many star players to be rested.

The report said that senior players like Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah may be rested for the home series and the upcoming series against Ireland. All these players will be included in the team from the England tour onwards.
