"He won't play T20 WC" - Ashish Nehra reckons star Indian pacer not a option for T20 WC 2022

In IPL 2022 Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans beat Rajasthan Royals comfortably in the final to win their maiden IPL title in their inaugural season. Not only did they win comfortably in the final, they played brilliantly throughout the tournament. One of the shining stars with the new ball and in the death is Mohammad Shami. Mohammad Shami picked 20 wickets for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 season.

Former Indian fast bowler and Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra said that looking at the current scheme of things it will be hard for Mohammad Shami to get a place in the playing 11 in the World Cup at Australia later this year.

He said, ”Seems like he doesn't feature in the current scheme of things for the T20 World Cup”. He also said that we all know his abilities. He may not be playing in the T20 World Cup but India should definitely play him at the 2023 World Cup in India, Nehra added. He also wants Mohammad Shami to play the ODI series against England in July.

We all know Mohammad Shami is one of the first choice fast bowlers for India. But looking at the current scheme it will be hard for him. But taking the conditions at Australia into consideration Mohammad Shami may get to play ahead of Bhuvi. But Bhuvi is bowling beautifully in this series against South Africa with the new ball.

Australian conditions may not favor swing bowlers normally so Mohammad Shami may get to pair up with Jasprit Bumrah with the ball. As things stand Harshal Patel will be very hard to ignore since his slower balls are very deceptive. Australian grounds are generally big so Harshal Patel with his slower balls may be key in the bowling department. India will play their first match in the World Cup against their archrivals Pakistan at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
