"It's not really about him" - Rahul Dravid backs Virat Kohli to deliver good for India despite being out of touch

Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid has said that Team India is not worried in the slightest about Virat Kohli's number of runs. The head coach explained that everyone expects him to contribute significantly, which will benefit the team.

Earlier, after being rested for the white ball series between West Indies and Zimbabwe, Virat Kohli has returned to international cricket with the ongoing Asia Cup 2022. He scored 35 runs and 59 runs not out against Pakistan and Hong Kong respectively and looked in good touch.

The right-handed batsman will once again be seen in action in the Super-4 stage match against Pakistan on Sunday, 4th September. Meanwhile, in a pre-match press conference, Dravid was asked to assess Kohli's performance after returning from a short break.

To which Dravid said, "For us, it doesn't really matter how many runs he scores. Especially with Virat, people get a little obsessed with his stats. For us, it's not really about him. It is about the contribution made by him at different stages of the game. Even a small inning in T20 can make a big difference."

On the other hand, on Virat Kohli's form and his contribution to the team, Dravid said that Kohli is also coming back after a break and that it is good to see that he is playing afresh. He added that Kohli is looking forward to playing all the coming matches. He continued that he got a chance to spend time in the field and hopefully Kohli will do better from here on.
