Matthew Hayden picks potential Top 4 teams for IPL 2022 playoffs

 

If the first two days are anything to go by, then the fans are set for an exciting season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season. And, while predicting the top four is too early now, fans have already hit ground running and is already making their predictions.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season got underway on the 26th of March with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) getting the better of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), while on the 2nd day, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings walked out victorious against Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively.

Already the favourites have suffered a defeat in their opening match of the season, thus, already giving a signal of how tough it will be this season to predict the top four. But still, the fans and the cricket experts are already making their prediction.

One of those cricket expert is former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden. During a post match live show on Star Sports, the former Australian batsman picked Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as his choice for the first placed team. He then picked Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and his fourth team is Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the same four teams that made it to the playoffs last year.

While Chennai Super Kings were favourites in the opening match of the season, Shreyas Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders did well to walk out victorious. While on the 2nd day, Delhi Capitals stole the victory of Mumbai's hand thanks to brilliant performance from Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel, whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore failed to defend their total of 205 runs against Punjab Kings.

The 3rd day of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will see the two new teams go up against each other as Gujarat Titans will face off Lucknow Super Giants on the 28th of March.
