Sri Lanka Head Coach explains the meaning behind code signals used during Asia Cup 2022 match against Bangladesh

Chris Silverwood was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying: "It's no rocket science. Through this, only suggestions are given to the captain as to which bowler should be sent in front of the batsman standing at that time. A lot of teams are using Code Signals at the moment, it's really very simple."

However, whether or not to use the code signal sent by the coach is entirely up to the captain. It is not mandatory for the captain to follow the code signal. This technique does not mean that you are not allowing the captain to do his work his way, rather it is just a suggestion.
