Wasim Jaffer picks Team India's Playing XI for Asia Cup 2022 clash against Pakistan
The fight for the next title of the Asia Cup has finally started from today, i.e. from August 27th, where the first match is being played between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. However, all eyes will be on the second match of the Asia Cup 2022 to be held in Dubai on August 28, where India and Pakistan will face each other for the first time since the T20 World Cup 2021.
Team India suffered an embarrassing 10-wicket loss against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup 2021 group match, and now they will undoubtedly want to avenge that loss in the Asia Cup 2022. Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming blockbuster clash between the two Asian giants, former Indian cricketer and cricket pundit Wasim Jaffer has named his playing XI for India for this match.
Wasim Jaffer's top-order is as expected, picking India captain Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as openers, while he wants to field Virat Kohli at number three and Suryakumar Yadav at number four.
However, the former batsman is not sure who will be picked between Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik for the wicketkeeper's role, so he said that if the youngster is given a chance, he should bat at No 5, otherwise Hardik Pandya should be fed at number five and if Dinesh Karthik is selected in the playing XI, then he should come to bat at number six.
Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer backed veteran spin all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the crucial encounter against Pakistan and suggested that he should bat at number seven. He has kept Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh in the fast bowling department for this big match, while he picked Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal in place of R Ashwin as part of the spin bowling department, though both of them are leg-spin bowlers.
