Former Indian cricketer and now a commentator and cricket analyst Aakash Chopra has picked his top 5 batters from Test cricket this year during a recently uploaded video on his YouTube channel.
At first, the former India cricketer picked Fawad Alam at number 5. The Pakistani batsman has made the most of his comeback. He has scored 513 runs from 7 matches.
At number 4, he picked Sri Lanka's Lahiru Thirimanne. The Sri Lankan has scored 659 runs from 7 matches and he scored all those runs while playing away in England, South Africa and West Indies.
Number 3 is India's wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Pant had an extraordinary year in Test cricket, he was one of the heroes of India's Test series victory in Australia. Pant has scored 706 runs from 11 matches.
The top two are no doubt India's opening batsman Rohit Sharma and England cricket team's captain Joe Root. Rohit Sharma has had a great year as the Mumbaikar has scored 906 runs in 11 matches.
Whereas Joe Root is highest run scorer in the Test format this year. Root has scored 1500 runs and going in the Ashes 2021-2022 being played in Australia. He has also scored 2 double centuries against India and Sri Lanka this year.
