Watch: Hanuman Vihari comes out to bat despite fractured wrist and bats left-handed against MP in Ranji Trophy quarterfinal

The quarterfinal round of the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022–23 is currently underway. Andhra Pradesh is taking on Madhya Pradesh in the fourth quarterfinal match at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. Batting first, Andhra scored a total of 379 runs in 127.1 overs.

However, one thing caught the attention of the fans: veteran Indian batter and Andhra skipper Hanuma Vihari was batting left-handed. The 29-year-old suffered a fracture to his right wrist when he was hit by a ball bowled by Avesh Khan on the opening day of the game.

The medical scans confirmed that he suffered a fractured wrist. But despite a fracture, Vihari came out to bat and showed a great deal of dedication towards his team. He came out to bat after the ninth wicket fell. He batted left-handed to prevent any further injury to his wrist.

He also hit a couple of boundaries off Avesh Khan and Kumar Kartikeya before getting dismissed after 27 runs off 57 balls, including five boundaries. As per the medical reports, he will require 5–6 weeks to recover from this wrist injury.

For MP, Anubhav Agarwal took 4/72, while Kumar Kartikeya and Gaurav Yadav picked up two wickets each. Notably, this is not the first time that, despite being injured, Vihari has decided to bat for his team. Earlier, during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2021, he and Ravi Ashwin stayed on the crease for over three sessions in the famous Sydney Test and helped India draw the game.
