England cricket team wore black T-shirt during national anthem, here's why
The cricket season had begun with India and New Zealand playing in the inaugural World Test Championship final, which eventually was won by the New Zealand team under Kane Williamson's leadership.
Now we progress to the next chapter with India and England starts the five-match Test series with 1st match being played at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham, with England batting first after captain Joe Root won the toss and opted to bat first.
However, we saw something different before the match, during the national anthem. The England cricket team was seen wearing a black T-shirt during the national, the text written in the T-shirt read, "Cricket is a game for everyone." This has created a lot of buzz after this on social media.
Now a question might arise in your mind that why did England wore the black T-shirt. Well, according to a report on IANS, the reason behind wearing the black T-shirt was to send a message to everyone about making the game of cricket more inclusive.
This comes after the England cricket team pace bowler Ollie Robinson's old racist and sexist tweets resurfaced on the internet and resulted in Ollie Robinson getting dropped from the team for the 2nd Test match against New Zealand earlier in June. Ollie Pope replaced him in the squad later.
England has got off to a good start in the 1st Test
Talking about the India vs England 1st Test match that is being played at Nottingham, England captain Joe Root decided that his team will bat first after winning the toss.
However, it was India who got off to a great start after pacer Jasprit Bumrah dismissed England Rory Burns in just the 5th ball of the match and no runs on the board for the English team. After that, India has taken three more wickets, while skipper Joe Root has troubled the Indian bowlers.
