Faf du Plessis names MS Dhoni as "Greatest Player of All Time" in the IPL

It's been more than 15 seasons since the start of the world's biggest cricket league, the Indian Premier League. So far, almost every big name has featured in the cash-rich league and graced the tournament.

The likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers, Rohit Sharma, Lasith Malinga, and many more have featured in this league, which is why it is not easy to pick any one player as the greatest of all time.

Over the years, a number of former cricketers and cricket pundits have picked a few players as the GOAT in the IPL. However, if someone who has been a star in this league picks someone as an IPL GOAT, that sounds more relevant. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis has named one player he thinks is the GOAT in the IPL.

When asked about Greatest Player of all Time in the IPL on Jio Cinema's Q&A session, Du Plessis didn't take much time and right away picked MS Dhoni as the IPL GOAT. Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains in the IPL, winning four IPL titles. He is also one of the best player with over 5000 IPL runs, and is probably the best wicketkeeper in the IPL.

MS Dhoni has been leading the Chennai Super Kings since the very first season. He has led the team to four titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. Most recently, he completed 200 games as a CSK skipper. In his IPL career, he has played 240 games and scored 5037 runs at an average of 39.35 and a strike rate of 135.77, including 24 half-centuries.

Dhoni is the only captain with over 100 IPL wins. He has led CSK in 11 playoffs, which includes nine IPL finals out of the 13 seasons he has led. Earlier, former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh also said that MS Dhoni is probably the biggest cricketer in India because of his huge fanbase and the love or support he gets.
