First Player Ever! Sanju Samson beats Virat Kohli to register a special feat

The fourth game of the 2023 Indian Premier League season saw two former IPL champions square off against each other at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. It was Rajasthan Royals locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the afternoon game.

After winning the toss, SRH decided to bowl first. But they didn't have a great start with the ball. In fact, both RR openers smashed every SRH bowler to all parts of the ground. RR registered their highest powerplay score of 85/1 in the IPL.

Jos Buttler carried on his form and smashed a 19-ball fifty. He got out after scoring 54 off 22 balls, with three maximums and seven boundaries in it. His wicket brought skipper Sanju Samson to the crease. Then he and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 54 runs for the second wicket.

Jaiswal scored his half-century and made 54 off 37 before getting out to Fazalhaq Farooqi at the boundary line. Samson was the third RR batter to score a half-century in the first inning. He made a 28-ball fifty and scored 55 off 32, including three fours and four sixes.

Rajasthan scored 203/5 in 20 overs. Notably, with his half century, Samson also became the first player in history to score 700 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He was also the first IPL batter to cross the 600-run mark against SRH, with Virat Kohli in second place.

Speaking of the game, SRH had an even poorer performance with the bat in the second inning. Chasing the target, they lost Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in the very first over from Trent Boult without scoring any runs on the board. Yuzvendra Chahal picked up four wickets and ended up with a bowling figure of 4/17. SRH reached only 131/8, losing by a massive 72 runs.
