"Were not brave enough"- Rohit Sharma opens up after a humiliating loss in 3rd test; blames the poor batting

After suffering in the first two tests, Australia has thrashed the Indian team in the third test in Indore to keep the hope alive of drawing the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australia registered a win in only seven sessions and won the game by nine wickets.

The visitors needed only 76 runs to win the third game, and they did it with only one wicket to fall. Travis Head and Marnus Labuschagne added an unbeaten 78 runs to win the game. Head made 49 not out, while Labuschagne remained unbeaten on 28.

This loss came as an eye-opener for Rohit Sharma and his team, as they needed this win to qualify for the final of the World Test Championship. Team India lost the game in the very first session when they got bowled out for just 109 runs in 33.1 overs, and it was very difficult to come back from there.

That's what the Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, also said after the loss in the post-match presentation. He said that the first inning could have been better, which became the main reason for the loss. Rohit also said that the team was not brave enough to take the challenge.

The Indian captain said, "There are a lot of things which didn’t go our way. We understand how important it is to put runs on the board in the first innings. Had we batted well in the first innings, things would have been slightly different. When the bowler is trying to do that, got to be a little brave which I thought we were not. We didn’t adapt as well as we would have liked to."

Australia became the first team to qualify for the WTC final, and India needs to wait more. Rohit and his men will have the last chance to qualify, and for that they need to win the final test in Ahmedabad, which will start on March 9. However, if India loses that game, then they will have to depend on the result of the upcoming two-match series between India and New Zealand this month.
