Here Is The Exact Reason Why Quinton de Kock Retired From Tests At The Age Of 29
In a piece of shocking news on Thursday, South African wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock announced his retirement from Test cricket. QDK is just 29 years old and hence, his decision met with shock and surprise. Incidentally, on Thursday, Quinton was part of the South Africa Team that lost the first Test to Team India. In this article, we tell you the exact reason for Quinton de Kock to retire from Tests at the age of 29.
The reason for Quinton to retire
Cricket South Africa (CSA) put out a statement announcing the decision that was made by Quinton de Kock. As per the statement, QDK has retired from Tests due to reasons pertaining to his family.
Quinton and his wife are expecting their first child and the South African player felt that giving them all his time is the best decision for the moment. He said that "My family is everything to me" and specified that he wants to have the time and space to be with them. Further, Quinton went on to explain that it was time for him to do right by the people that mean the most to him.
The southpaw will continue in white-ball cricket
Quinton de Kock, in his statement, has confirmed that he will continue to be a part of the white-ball setup. However, his retirement will leave a big hole in the South African Test setup.
Ever since he made his Test debut in 2014, QDK has been a consistent part of the XI in all formats. In Tests, he offered batting with intent in the lower middle-order. With the gloves, he was almost flawless. Since he is only 29, the management will now have to tackle an unexpected situation to find his replacement. This must happen very soon since a couple of days later, they will face India again.
