Here's what happened between Glenn Maxwell and KL Rahul during India vs Australia 1st ODI

After a disappointing IPL season with the Kings XI Punjab, both James Neesham and Glenn Maxwell returned to form in international cricket last evening. While Neesham powered New Zealand to a close win over West Indies at Eden Park in Auckland, Maxwell’s blitzkrieg helped Australia defeat India in the first ODI.

It is pertinent to note that the Kings XI Punjab thought of releasing these two foreign all-rounders after their dismal performance in IPL 2020. However, their excellent performances in the global arena might prompt the Mohali-based franchise to retain them ahead of IPL 2021.

Notably, the Kings XI Punjab captain, KL Rahul, who won the Orange Cap award in IPL 2020, got out to Adam Zampa cheaply. One can say that it was an unlucky dismissal because Zampa bowled a low full toss outside off and Rahul hit it straight to Steve Smith standing at the short cover position.

Many Twitter users, including Wasim Jaffer, pulled KL Rahul’s leg on the micro-blogging platform by sharing some hilarious memes. James Neesham reacted to one of those memes as he tagged Glenn Maxwell and wrote:

“Haha, that’s actually pretty good.”

Glenn Maxwell replied to him after a few hours as he revealed that he apologized to KL Rahul after smashing 45 runs off 19 balls. Another interesting statistic emerging from last evening’s match is that Maxwell could not hit a single six in 13 IPL matches, while he smacked three maximums in the first 13 balls of his innings against the Indian cricket team at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

“I apologised to him while I was batting #KXIPFriends,” Glenn Maxwell replied to James Neesham.
