Here's why Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes are not part of Playing XI vs MI

The biggest group match of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is underway. It is the game between the two most successful teams in the IPL, which have won nine titles between them.

The Mumbai Indians are all set to host the Chennai Super Kings in their second game of the season at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It is the second game of the double header on Saturday. MI lost their opening match against Royal Challengers Bangalore badly by a margin of 8 wickets.

It was their eighth consecutive loss in the season opener since 2013. On the other hand, CSK lost their first game to the defending champion Gujarat Titans but bounced back well in their second game and won against the Lucknow Super Giants to open their account on the points table.

Both now both the former IPL champions will be up against each other in the much-anticipated clash of the tournament. Notably, CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first. But as soon as the squads were announced, there were some big changes made to the CSK squad.

Chennai made two of the biggest changes in their playing XI from the last match against LSG. CSK dropped both English all-rounders, Ben Stokes and Mooen Ali, and picked Dwaine Pretorius and Sisanda Magala in their playing XI. Notably, Magala will be making his IPL debut.

Earlier, some media reports confirmed that Stokes is suffering from a heel injury, which he sustained on the eve of MI's clash during a practise session. He needs about 10 more days to get fit.

On the other hand, CSK skipper MS Dhoni confirmed that Moeen is not feeling well, which is why he is not part of the team. It will be a big blow for the four-time champion as Moeen was the "Man of the Match" in the last game.
