Mohammed Shami dismisses Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck in warm-up match, later apologises - Watch Video

India are on a tour to England for a multi-format series starting on June 1. India will play the fifth and final rescheduled test match against England at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Before the start of the tour, India are playing with Leicestershire in a four-day warm-up match. Batting first, India declared their first innings at 246/8.

The wicket-keeper batsman, Srikar Bharat, was the top-scorer with an unbeaten 73* not out. But when it comes to bowling, the Indian seamers hit the right spot from the ball one. In particular, the veteran pacer Mohammed Shami bowled a brilliant spell upfront and picked up the first two wickets.

He dismissed the Leicestershire skipper, Sam Evans, for one run. Then he came back to remove Cheteshwar Pujara for a duck. Shami bowled a brilliant outswinger to Evans, who couldn't play it and edged the ball. Virat Kohli, who was fielding at the slip, took a comfortable catch.

Then in his next over, he came back and bowled a back-of-the-length ball to Pujara, who couldn't control it and he choped it on to his stumps. The pacer jumped into the celebration, and when Pujara was going back to the dugout, Shami jumped on him and teasingly apologized for dismissing him. Pujara, on the other hand, merely kept walking.

The veteran middle-order will be an important part for India in the rescheduled test. India are trailing the series 2-1 and need this win. Winning the fifth test will mean a series win and also one step closer to the WTC final.
