India announces 15-member squad for T20 World Cup: Star bowling pair make their return

The Indian selection committee has announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia. The team has seen the return of India's ace pacer, Jasprit Bumrah. Harshal Patel has also made his comeback to the side after recovering from an injury.

Rohit Sharma will lead the team, while KL Rahul has been re-assigned as vice-captain of the side. One notable name who missed the plane to the World Cup is the veteran pacer Mohammed Shami. There was speculation that Shami might be included in the team for the mega event.

But he has been picked as the standby team. Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who got injured in the Asia Cup, will miss the World Cup. However, Axar Patel has been included in the team in his absence as a like-for-like replacement. The other team is almost the same as the team in the Asia Cup.

The pace-bowling department will consist of Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, and Arshdeep Singh, while the spin-bowling department will have Ravi Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. On the other hand, Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik are both in the team and it will be interesting to see who will make it into the playing XI.

Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, and Hardik Pandya will be in the batting order. So it looks very clear that Rohit and Rahul will open the innings and the rest of the order will be the same as in the Asia Cup.

After a horrible performance in the T20 World Cup, India will look to do better this time around. Notably, India will open their campaign against archrivals Pakistan on October 23 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Aside from that, the BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming series against Australia and South Africa. Hardik will not feature against South Africa, while Shami and Deepak Chahar will play in both series.
