Akram told Arshdeep "if you think you're perfect don't come to me"- Arshdeep's coach on pacer's career-changing meeting with Wasim Akram

India will start their next assignment against the world champions, Australia, in a three-match T20I series at home starting on September 20. The first match will be played in Mohali, where India's new star pacer, Arshdeep Singh, played most of his cricket at the beginning of his career.

And ahead of the first T20I on Tuesday, Arshdeep's coach, Jaswant Rai, recalled a very exciting moment when the left-arm pacer was bowled down by Pakistan's legendary pacer and his idol, Wasim Akram, in the UAE during the recently concluded Asia Cup.

Arshdeep has done a really good job so far in his career with the limited opportunities he has got. He showed his skills in the Asia Cup, bowling tough overs at the death under a lot of pressure. During an interaction with journalist Vimal Kumar on his YouTube channel, his coach disclosed the incident when Arshdeep met Akram.

As quoted by the Hindustan Times, Jaswant told the story of how the left-armer approached the legendary Pakistani pacer during the Asia Cup. Arshdeep is part of the Indian squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia as well.

Furthermore, Jaswant said, "Arshdeep told me that he met Akram bhai who told him, 'Sardarji, you are bowling very well. You are a good bowler. If you think you are perfect, then don't come to me. If you feel you want to ask me anything or want to learn something from me then you can come whenever you want."

His coach also revealed that the young pacer kept thinking about the same after his first meeting and finally decided to go and have a talk with Akram because he didn't want to let the legendary pacer think that he knew everything and didn't want to learn further.

Notably, Akram was also among the ones who backed the young pacer when he was targeted on social media for his dropped catch against Pakistan during a match on the "super four" stage. He replied to all the critics and said that if anyone wanted to target Arshdeep, they must try him.

He also said that they haven't played any kind of professional cricket, so they could never imagine the level of pressure a player is under during a match and off the field as well, so it is not acceptable to go after the young player who is just starting his international career.
