"India shouldn’t justify it by lying about warnings"- England women's team skipper Heather Knight lashes out at Deepti Sharma

The whole cricketing world was divided into two different sections when the third and final ODI match between India's women and England's women ended with a mankad run out. India's all-rounder Deepti Sharma ran out the English batter Charlie Dean, who was backing up two far.

It happened when England needed 17 runs off 39 balls to win the match to avoid a 3-0 whitewash. However, their last pair were on the crease. Dean was batting at 47 runs, while the No. 11 batter, Freya Davies, was batting at 10 runs. Both batters had already added 35 runs for the last wicket and were looking to win the match.

But that ran out, ending their hope, and India won their first ever series win in England since 1999. Many English cricketers criticised Deepti's act and called it against the "spirit of the game". The Indian cricketers were also there to back the Indian team because it was done within the rules of the ICC.

However, on Monday, the Indian women's team reached India after registering a historic series victory in England. Fans welcomed the whole team at the Kolkata airport, including Deepti Sharma. And when asked about that run out, the all-rounder replied that they warned Dean many times and also told the umpires about that.

Deepti said, "It was a plan because we had warned her (for leaving the crease early) repeatedly. Whatever we did was as per the rules and guidelines. We had told the umpires as well. But still, she (Charlie Dean) was there (outside the crease). We couldn’t do much."

Well, that statement spread like the fire in the woods. However, it seems that some English cricketers are still not happy with that. The English women's team captain, Heather Knight, who was not part of the series due to injury, took to her social media handle and accused Deepti and her team of lying about the given warning.
