"IPL has changed my career and helped me evolve"- Marcus Stoinis after scoring Australia's fastest T20I fifty in SL clash

The defending champions, Australia, registered a thumping win over Sri Lanka at the Perth Stadium on Tuesday. With this win they have scored two important points at the table. This win was more important because the hosts were thrashed by New Zealand in their first game.

However, this time around, the batting came good and fans saw some real carnage from the bat of the all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, who ended up scoring the second fastest half-century in the history of the T20 World Cup and the fastest for Australia.

Stoini scored a 17-ball fifty and made an unbeaten 59* off 18 balls, including four boundaries and six maximums, and rightly won the "Man of the Match" for his blistering innings. Australia chased down the target of 158/3 in just 16.3 overs. After the win, the all-rounder credited the Indian Premier League for his evolution in the shorter format.

In particular, Stoinis took apart the Sri Lankan spinning duo of Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga and hit them for sixes and fours. In the post-match presentation, the all-rounder said that the IPL has certainly helped him as a T20I batter.

He said, "Yeah, definitely the IPL has changed my cricket and helped me evolve, and it's not only playing on the wickets, it's having the coaches from all over the world, having players from different countries. So you come across a range of techniques and mentalities about how to play spin. Yeah, it has helped me improve for sure."

He also revealed his plan to tackle the spinners. The all-rounder said that he looks for two balls mainly, one on the back-foot and the other on the front-foot. Apart from him, Glenn Maxwell also looked good for his short stay and made 23 off 12 balls.

The Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, remained unbeaten till the very end and made 31* off 42 balls. For the Aussies, every match is a must-win game if they want to prove their worth for the semis.

Australia will now face a strong England team in their next game on Friday (October 28) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. If they lose that game, it will be very hard for them to make it to the top four.
