Virat Kohli made a big jump into Top 10 T20I batsmen rankings after his heroics vs PAK

At the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, India and Pakistan delivered one of the best cricket games that one could ever hope for. Both teams had their chances, and in the end, it was India that edged past their arch rivals to register a 4-wicket win.

And it will not be a wrong statement to say that the hangover is still there among the fans. The world saw one of the best innings while chasing from the bat of the former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who took India over the line.

From 31/4 in 6.1 overs, India made 160/6 in 20 overs to win the match by four wickets. Virat then carried his bat through and was not out on 82* off 53 balls, including four maximums and six boundaries. After that heroic, many have termed that innings has certainly the best innings of Virat Kohli in his entire career so far.

That innings has also helped the former Indian skipper to jump back into the top ten ICC T20I batters in the world. According to the latest ICC T20I rankings, Kohli has risen five spots to ninth place among T20I batsmen.

Pakistani opener Mohammad Rizwan is at the top with 849 rating points. But New Zealand's star opener Devon Conway has also made a big jump and has surpassed India's Suryakumar Yadav, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam and South African batter Aiden Markram in the rankings.

Conway is now the new No. 2 ranked T20I batter with 831 rating points. The left-hander played a match-winning innings against Australia in the opening match and helped his team beat the defending champions. He made an unbeaten 92 runs against the Aussies.

That means that a new contendar for Rizwan's No. 1 spot has emerged, and this tournament might see a new No. 1 batter, while Suryakumar, Babar, and Markram have slipped one spot each in the rankings to 3, 4, and 5 spots, respectively.

India will now face the Netherlands on Thursday (October 27) at the Sydney Cricket Ground. A total of three games will be played on Thursday. At the SCG, South Africa will also face Bangladesh, while Pakistan will face Zimbabwe in Perth.
