"ICC want to ensure India reaches the semi-finals"- Shahid Afridi's weird statement on India's win vs BAN

India is currently at the top of their group with three wins in four games and 6 points. The Men in Blue started their campaign with a thrilling win over arch rivals Pakistan at the MCG. Then, they followed it up with another comprehensive 56-run win over Netherlands.

However, in their third game, they faced a 5-wicket loss against South Africa, but they bounced back well to defeat Bangladesh in their last game by five runs (DLS method). But it seems that the win against Bangladesh and Pakistan in the first game is very hard to digest for some former players and fans.

As former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi went on to accuse the International Cricket Council (ICC) of favoring the Indian cricket team in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia. He also said that the ICC wants to make sure that India plays in the semi-finals.

In an interview on a Pakistani TV channel, Saama TV, Afridi said that the governing body is favoring India in the competition. His accusation came after India won the game against Bangladesh by five runs using the DLS method.

In that game, Bangladesh were in a good position of 66/0 in 7 overs, chasing the target. But suddenly the rain came, and they lost all momentum after the break. On the other hand, India put pressure on them and, in the end, won the game.

Afridi said, "You saw the ground how wet it was. But ICC is inclined towards India. They want to ensure India reaches the semi-finals at any cost. The umpires were also the same who officiated India vs Pakistan & will get the best umpire awards."

With the win against Bangladesh, India's chances to qualify for the semis have gotten stronger. On the other hand, Pakistan has been virtually out of the competition. Furthermore, Afridi said that the game restarted just after the rain stopped, which shows that there are many things involved when India is playing.

In the end, he also praised Bangladesh opener Litton Das, who hit a 21-ball fifty, and said that if Bangladesh hadn't lost quick wickets, they would have won that game. Apart from India, South Africa has better chances to qualify from Group 2.

The Proteas have one match left against the Netherlands on Sunday, and if they win, they will qualify. On the other hand, if they lose or the match gets washed out due to rain, Pakistan still has a chance.
