Injury scare for India ahead of WTC Final; LSG pacer injured his shoulder during net practice

The game between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore is underway at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. However, ahead of the game, the LSG camp suffered a big blow when veteran left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat sustained a shoulder injury.

He injured his shoulder during net practice on Sunday, April 30, on the eve of the RCB game. His left leg stuck in the rope, which keeps the net upright during the follow-through, and the pacer fell in his bowling arm awkwardly.

The reports suggest that the pacer will stay with the Lucknow team, but the BCCI medical team will be in constant touch with the pacer and monitor his progress. It is yet to be known whether he will stay in Lucknow or go to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

According to ESPN Cricinfo, his left shoulder has remained sore, but there was no dislocation. Unadkat featured in three games in the IPL 2023 for the LSG but couldn't pick up a wicket. However, this injury could be a big blow for Team India as well.

The left-arm pacer is also part of the Indian team squad, which will travel to the UK after the conclusion of the IPL 2023 for the final of the World Test Championship against Australia. The WTC final will kick off on June 7 at the Kennington Oval in London.

Earlier, India announced a 15-member squad for the WTC final, which also saw the return of veteran Ajinkya Rahane to the team after 15 months. India will miss Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer in the middle order, and Rahane has done a decent job in the IPL 2023.
