We are just about 2 days away from every Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises announcing their 4 retentions for the IPL 2022. And before that, Irfan Pathan has picked 4 players he thinks Chennai Super Kings (CSK) should retain.

Picking out the players to retain is always a tough ask for any Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise as that would mean breaking your team. And this term, it has been made even more hard as all the 8 franchises have been told to retain a maximum of 4 players from a 20 to 25 players squad.

And when you are the defending IPL champion, it is always hard to break your winning squad, and that's the issue that CSK had to face. According to various reports, the franchise has decided to retain MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and all-rounder Moeen Ali. All it awaits is the final announcement on the 30th of November.

And before the D-Day, former Indian cricketer and pace bowler Irfan Pathan has picked 4 players that he thinks Chennai Super Kings should retain before IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

While speaking to Star Sports, Irfan Pathan stated that CSK should retain MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali.

He stated that MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja are must, while Ruturaj Gaikwad deserves to be retained and is a future leader of the team. While he stated that any of Sam Curran or Moeen Ali will be good retention, but he kept Moeen Ali ahead.

He stated about Faf du Plessis that he is 37-years-old and is not a future prospect, thus Moeen Ali is the best option for him.

Chennai Super Kings walked out as the Champions of the IPL 2021, beating Kolkata Knight Riders in the final, played in Dubai International Cricket Stadium on the 15th of October.
